Riyadh, 11 September 2025, — India is making a vibrant presence at INDEX Saudi Arabia 2025, exhibiting its diverse handicraft heritage in a special dedicated pavilion at the Riyadh Front Exhibition and Conference Center. The three-day event, from 9th to 11th September, provides Indian craftsmen and exporters with an invaluable opportunity to greet and meet buyers, designers, and players of Saudi Arabia’s expanding interior and design industry.
At the periphery of the exhibition, an interactive session titled “India: The Ideal Destination for Handicraft Sourcing” was conducted. Speaking at the session, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan highlighted the huge potential of India’s handicraft sector, which has been long renowned as a crossing point between tradition and innovation. He emphasized that India’s participation in INDEX Saudi Arabia is organized jointly with the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) and the Ministry of Textiles of India, underlining the government’s encouragement of artisans and growing international outreach.
The Indian pavilion at INDEX includes a diverse range of handicraft exporters who are presenting centuries-old traditions to the modern marketplace. Live presentations of traditional craftsmanship are a pavilion standout, bringing into relief the subtle artistry and creativity of Indian craft artisans. Among the crafts highlighted are metal engraving, clay craft, coconut shell craft, Kantha embroidery from eastern India, and ecologically sensitive handicrafts in natural fibers. Each work exemplifies not only aesthetic value but cultural heritage of different regions of India.
By joining INDEX Saudi Arabia, Indian exhibitors aim to strengthen business relationships with Saudi partners, particularly at a time when the Kingdom is diversifying its creative economy in line with Vision 2030. The event provides a platform for business partnerships, seeking investment opportunities, and marketing India as a reliable partner when sourcing high-quality handmade products.
India’s handicraft industry provides jobs for tens of millions of highly skilled artisans, women and rural community people. India is on the cusp of becoming an excellent source of handicrafts with growing international demand for real, eco-friendly, and handmade products. Trade fairs like INDEX Saudi Arabia not only encourage business but also encourage the heritage to be preserved as artisans become globally known.
The sale is a reflection of a larger pattern of cultural and economic engagement between India and Saudi Arabia, strengthening the bilateral relationship and bringing the timeless beauty of Indian craftsmanship to the Saudi consumer.
